Tasty Tuesday: Salmon Freezies

Today's Tasty Tuesday Treat is an icy delight.
You will need:
Cooked salmon (we used cooked dog safe left overs)
Dry dog treats
Water
A freezer and ice-cube tray
and
A doggy taste tester

To start layer a piece of salmon in each square of the ice-cube tray
Next add a layer of crushed dry dog treats, we used dried sardines as they had turned to dust in the packet and were no longer good as training treats. Liver or other dry treats should work.
Layer more fish and treats
Use a jug to pour water or to be extra fancy a dog safe chicken broth,  to fill each cell in the tray.
 Bring on the taste test!

Tasty Tuesday: Apple and Honey Dog Biscuits

These biscuits are sure to go down a treat with the pups!
For this recipe you will need:
Cookie cutters
1 cup of rice flour
1 teaspoon of honey
1/3 cup of apple sauce (just apples nothing added)
2 tablespoons of coconut oil
1 egg
1 or more hungry dogs

Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius or 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Line some baking trays
Mix all ingredients together
Roll into a dough
Cut shapes
Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown
Yum!
There was enough left over dough to make training treats, I just cut these pieces with a knife, make sure to cut them to the size needed before cooking them because they can be fiddly to break up while training

Yep, these earned the whippet seal of approval!

Snood DIY

DIY whippet snood!
One of the simplest things you can make for your dog.
Made of soft polar fleece, it can be worn covering the ears or not.
Over ears

Snoods are used to keep the ears warm and some people even use them to keep the ears of long eared/haired breeds tidy before shows.
For this DIY you will need:
Some polar fleece fabric
Sewing machine
Thread
Scissors
Measuring tape
and
A DOG

First measure around your dog's head and take that measurement to form the longest side of your rectangle adding a few cm or an inch or so for seam allowance. Then use the length you want your snood to be to form the length of the shortest side you your rectangle. Make sure the stretch of the fabric goes with the longest side.

Turn fabric over, fold over both long sides, pin and sew down like shown.

Zig- Zag stitch adds strength to the seams
Fold over as shown

 Sew down remaining side
Fold inside out
